My Youngest Daughter

Kaidence is an 8th grader here at DPMS.  She is one of the Cheer Captains for DMS and makes me proud every day.

Keegan is the self-proclaimed favorite child.  He is funny, smart and full of love.  He attends LOE as a 4th grader.

Kwynn is the true baby of the family.  She is spoiled rotten, especially by her siblings.  She is my littel social butterfly.  She is in 1st grade at LOE.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY

This is my fifth year teaching, and my third in RRISD.  I am also one of the Cheer Coaches for DMS.  I have only been a teacher for a short time, but It is something that I have always wanted to do. Okay maybe for a few years I contemplated a princess ballerina rock star that owned a unicorn farm.  I love working in the district and I love the team that I have to work with.  All of the teachers here at DMS are amazing and supportive.  I couldn't think of anywhere else I want to be.

I graduated in 2013 from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas with a bachelors of English and a minor in secondary education.  Huntsville was also my hometown.  Although it is a small town in East Texas, it houses a major University that specializes in Teaching and Criminal Justice.  It is known as the prison capital of Texas, as it is home to 7 prisons in and around the city limits with 3 more outlying the county.  This is where I met and married my high school sweetheart, Karl, and had 4 of the most amazing children.  Christopher is 20, Kaidence is 13, Keegan is 10, and Kwynn is 6.  Although I graduated high school in 1998, I worked a full-time job while attending college and stayed on the 15 year program.  I teach my children and my students that determination can overcome any obstacle.  Even if it takes longer than you want it to, don't ever give up.  I didn't.

After college, I knew that I wanted to move to the area, so I packed up my family and headed out west.   I started teaching in Elgin ISD, where I stayed for two years.  But after purchasing a home in RR, we knew I needed to teach here.  We have never been happier.   UPDATE:  We recently sold our house in RR and purchased a home in Leander.

I am so excited to begin the year with all of my new students.  Each year I get anxious about getting to know all of my new kids, but I always enjoy their differences.  I can't wait to start our journey!  I look forward to a wonderful school year.   If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
